Nuits-Saint-Georges has a reputation for brawn. Aux Chaignots never got the memo. The vineyard sits at the northern end of the commune, close enough to the Vosne-Romane boundary that the perfume comes across the border violets, spice and red berries rather than iron and gravel. Bott and Kuriyama’s touch suits it exactly: sustainably farmed grapes bought from a trusted grower, patient cool-cellar levage, and no attempt to make the wine bigger than the site wants it to be. The 2024 is all lift and fragrance, a fine mineral thread running underneath raspberry and rose. If your idea of Nuits is a wine that needs a steak and ten years, this one will rearrange it.
