From Boca, one of the smallest and most ancient corners of Alto Piemonte, this is the flagship of Castello Conti, where sisters Elena, Anna, and Paola tend a single hillside hectare planted on ancient volcanic soils. ‘Il Rosso delle Donne’, the women’s red, takes its name from the sisters’ mark on the family tradition. It’s a blend of roughly 75% Nebbiolo with Vespolina and Uva Rara, fermented spontaneously, aged about three years in large old casks, and made with almost no added sulfur. High-altitude vines and volcanic ground give it a bright, savory, mountain-Nebbiolo character that loves a decant.
