The estate’s calling card: young, vibrant Sangiovese from the same terroir that produces their acclaimed Brunello. Canalicchio di Sopra (est. 1962, Consorzio co-founder 1967) sources this primarily from the clay-rich Canalicchio cru, with soils rich in magnesium, iron, and manganese. Fermented in stainless steel for three weeks, then rested one year in Slavonian oak barrels (2550 hectoliters) and French oak (750 liters). An outstanding introduction to a serious Montalcino estateapproachable now but with real structure underneath.
