Is there a Vermentino trend that I am unaware of? Or is everyone going to the same Italian restaurant and getting the same server? But seriously, there has been a noticeable number of customers coming in and asking for Vermentino latelyenough that we have deliberately upped our offerings. And honestly, there couldn’t be a better time to check it out as we head into warmer, spring weather.

If you are new to Vermentino, it is a light-to-medium-bodied, dry white wine characterized by white florals and herbal aromas. On the palate, it delivers zesty citrus (think lime and grapefruit), green apple, and white peach flavors. It is a higher-acidity wine, often finishing with a distinct, savory salinity.

The Bruni Plinio Vermentino from Maremma, Toscana fits that description perfectly. It is a textbook example of this fun varietala wine that tastes fantastic right now and will carry you beautifully all the way through summer.

Pair with crispy fried fish, white fish with lemon caper sauce, chicken and salsa verde, basil-pesto dishes, and grilled vegetables.
