Muga is one of the last great traditionalists in Rioja a family house in Haro that still builds its own barrels in an on-site cooperage and fines its wines with egg whites. The Reserva is their calling card, and 2021 is a benchmark vintage. It spends two years in oak and another in bottle before release, emerging polished but classic: the kind of Rioja that tastes like Rioja. Tempranillo leads, rounded out with Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano. Drink it with dinner tonight or tuck a few away.
