Arietta was born from a friendship over wine and classical music. The name comes from the final movement of Beethoven’s last piano sonata, and bars of the score run across the label. Quartet is the four-variety red that plays to that theme: for 2022, Cabernet Sauvignon from cool Coombsville leads, joined by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a splash of Syrah from Carneros. Made by the celebrated Andy Erickson with a restrained hand and modest new oak, it’s the estate’s most approachable Bordeaux-style blend. Think polish and finesse over power.
