Ardbeg Blaaack is a limited-edition Islay single malt Scotch, the first release the distillery matured in New Zealand Pinot Noir casks. Built for the Ardbeg Committee’s 20th anniversary, it sets the distillery’s signature peat smoke against the dark-fruit sweetness those wine casks pull forward. The nose runs to baked fruit, smoky cedar, and bitter cherry; the palate layers cherries and peaches over dark chocolate, coffee, and toasted oak. Bottled at 46% ABV and non-chill filtered, it closes long on smoke, espresso, and brambly fruit. This is a heavily peated dram with a wine-cask twist, best poured neat with a few drops of water to open the fruit. One for Islay drinkers ready to step off the standard core range.
