Niepoort’s entry point to the thrilling wines of Quinta de Baixo opens with blackberries, violets, and stone minerality before revealing a medium-bodied, supple palate lined with silky tannins and tender fruit. This Baga was hand-harvested and fermented the old-fashioned wayfour weeks in open lagares with foot-treading, then 20 months in bottle before release. The 25-hectare estate sits on calcareous clay soils, farmed biodynamically since 2012. An ethereal finish and structural integrity that rewards cellaring while drinking beautifully now.
